OTOMI ANIMALES TOTE

Our Otomi totes continue our commitment to honoring worldwide craftsmanship, combining unique one-of-a-kind artistry with our fine leather to create a bag that’s both beautiful and practical.

The Animales “animals” tote features delicate and colorful hand-embroidered motifs of the indigenous Otomi people of central Mexico. While Otomi embroidery in the last century is often done on white cotton, our patterns are sewn over durable cloth panels utilizing the Indonesian batik method of wax-resist dyeing. For an additional ethnic touch, the back panels of each of our Otomi Collection pieces feature varied patterns of indigo-dyed textiles from Western Africa.

Vegetable-tanned leather tote handles offer lasting strength and are supported by double steel rivets. The bag’s base matches the handles and adds support while protecting the bag from excess wear. Internal features include a magnet enclosure, internal pocket and colorful Weaver’s House textile panels that reflect the heritage of the bag’s inspiration.
